 Most Westerners know that "face" is very important among the Chinese community. Yet, how to put this in business interactions, particularly when practicing credit management? It turns out that it is within reach with some common sense. When communicating with Hong Kong people, try to be humble and maintain “face” for them. For example, instead of saying “Have you received our invoice? Why have we not been paid?”, you may consider to say that “We need your help to check if our invoice has been received. Please understand that my manager is giving me some pressure to check the past dues.” A small twist of words will bring you an easier business life in Hong Kong.
